You Give So Much. Make Room to Receive on November 7
When was the last time you made room for yourself—not after everyone else was taken care of, but because your wellbeing matters, too?
If you are often the person who listens, organizes and keeps things moving, receiving care can take practice. This week, Deanna and I have been sharing short reflections about boundaries, listening and finding our way back to what restores us. Here are three moments to carry into your week.
I’m Clarita, owner of Absolute Best Wellness Center in San Pedro. After more than 50 years in movement and wellness, I still return to this simple idea: taking care of yourself helps you be present for the people you love.
1. Listen without taking everything on
Sometimes a person needs to be heard before they need a solution. Deanna’s short reflection offers a question we can bring to our relationships: do you need me to listen, or help you solve? It gives both people room to be clear about what they need and what they can offer.
Try it today: before stepping in to fix something, pause and ask what kind of support would actually help.
2. Make room to receive
Giving can become so familiar that we forget to leave space for ourselves. You can care deeply about others and still protect time to rest, move and receive support. That is one of the conversations at the heart of our November 7 gathering.
Try it today: choose one small act of care you will accept—a helping hand, a quiet break or time you keep just for yourself.
3. Notice the joy
A pause. A breath. A moment of joy. What restores you may be something simple: movement you enjoy, a conversation where you feel heard, or a little space in your day. Noticing it is a place to begin.
Try it today: name one thing that brought you joy, then decide how to make a little more room for it.
